At St Joseph’s, our faith inspires every aspect of our approach to education. Drawing from the Josephite tradition and the teachings of Mary MacKillop, we are dedicated to instilling values that empower students to live meaningful lives. Through kindness, integrity, compassion and a commitment to helping others, we guide each child to grow into a person who strives to make a positive impact in their community and beyond.
Mary MacKillop’s life serves as an inspiring example of faith, resilience and a commitment to the dignity and potential of every individual. Her compassion and dedication to serving others were grounded in her conviction that education could break the cycle of poverty and empower individuals to lead meaningful lives. At St Joseph's, we honour her legacy by encouraging our students to strive for excellence in learning while staying true to the values of kindness, integrity and purpose. Mary MacKillop's teachings continue to guide us, encouraging every child to shine their light and use education as a force for positive change.
The Josephites represent an enduring commitment to serving and loving others, a dedication that continues to inspire our community at St Joseph's. Their example teaches us to recognise the needs around us and respond with compassion, kindness and courage. From small acts of care to more significant contributions, the Josephite spirit reminds us that love in action has the power to transform lives. At St Joseph's, we honour this heritage by nurturing students who are empathetic and determined to make a positive impact in their communities.
With the guidance of the Sisters of St Joseph, our school is part of a national program where students from Years 5 and 6 can choose to become junior members of the Josephite Association – Junior Joeys! The purpose of this program is to:
We integrate the values of our faith into every aspect of our learning, creating a values based-learning environment where every student feels a great sense of belonging. These values come to life every day - in the classroom, at Mass and through the way we treat one another. Our school community embodies kindness, integrity, compassion and the courage to give of their best in honor of God’s glory.
One of the highlights of our school year is St Joseph’s Day! St Joseph is certainly a special saint for all of us at St Joey's and we like to honour him on this special day. Our celebrations include a lovely Mass at St Joseph's Church, where the newest members of the Junior Joeys receive their badges. We then have a picnic lunch at the pool, followed by fun on the ski biscuits and our Year 6 leaders entertaining us with their synchronised swimming routine! The day is filled with fun, friendship, and connection. By honoring St Joseph, we reinforce our values of faith, kindness and service that guides us every day.
Students attend Mass as an important part of their learning journey, taking time to reflect on their faith and the values that shape our community. It’s a moment to come together, pause and deepen their understanding of kindness, compassion and service to others. Through these experiences, students see how faith and our values are not just something we talk about but something we live every day.
